Back 2 Healthy - Emma Sheree

For all of my dieters, the holiday is over and it’s time to get back to our regularly scheduled program. I had a double whammy because my birthday and the 4th of July are the same day! Anyway being on a diet is tough in general but trying to get back in a routine after a holiday is just the worse. After all the ribs, mac n cheese, greens and hotdogs, how does one get back to being disciplined? I’m no expert but here are a few pointers that I found that should help to get you back into your routine in no time.

1. Do not feel bad about “messing up” on your diet. What’s done is done now focus your energy on getting healthy again.

I am definitely that person that usually beats myself up after failing miserably, but guess what? Getting your mind right also helps with your diet. Mind over matter is a legit saying in aspects such as dieting.

2. Drink plenty of water, it helps flush out your system and gives you energy to get moving.

The goal is to drink one gallon of water a day or half your body weight, However if you’re like me, I think water taste terrible, so you may want to spruce it up a bit with some flavor by adding fruit. Trust me it helps.

3. Start your exercise regime back up by going for a walk. You don’t have to start back going “HAM” in the gym right away. It’s okay to build yourself back up to that point.

Go take a walk to the park or a stroll around the block, some exercise is better than no exercise at all.

And although it may seem like you’re helping yourself, the last thing you want to do or shall I say not do is:

4. Skip breakfast. Make sure to eat healthy foods but breakfast helps to kick start your day. Even if its something as simple as a piece of fruit.

Alright, so we have a solid month and a half until our next holiday. Let’s make these next few weeks count, shall we?
